2 Разумный раб господствует над беспутным сыном и между братьями разделит наследство.
3 Плавильня - для серебра, и горнило - для золота, а сердца испытывает Господь.
4 Злодей внимает устам беззаконным, лжец слушается языка пагубного.
5 Кто ругается над нищим, тот хулит Творца его; кто радуется несчастью, тот не останется ненаказанным.
6 Венец стариков - сыновья сыновей, и слава детей - родители их.
7 Неприлична глупому важная речь, тем паче знатному - уста лживые.
8 Подарок - драгоценный камень в глазах владеющего им: куда ни обратится он, успеет.
9 Прикрывающий проступок ищет любви; а кто снова напоминает о нем, тот удаляет друга.
10 На разумного сильнее действует выговор, нежели на глупого сто ударов.
11 Возмутитель ищет только зла; поэтому жестокий ангел будет послан против него.
12 Лучше встретить человеку медведицу, лишенную детей, нежели глупца с его глупостью.
13 Кто за добро воздает злом, от дома того не отойдет зло.
14 Начало ссоры - как прорыв воды; оставь ссору прежде, нежели разгорелась она.
15 Оправдывающий нечестивого и обвиняющий праведного - оба мерзость пред Господом.
16 К чему сокровище в руках глупца? Для приобретения мудрости [у] [него] нет разума.
17 Друг любит во всякое время и, как брат, явится во время несчастья.
18 Человек малоумный дает руку и ручается за ближнего своего.
19 Кто любит ссоры, любит грех, и кто высоко поднимает ворота свои, тот ищет падения.
20 Коварное сердце не найдет добра, и лукавый язык попадет в беду.
21 Родил кто глупого, - себе на горе, и отец глупого не порадуется.
22 Веселое сердце благотворно, как врачевство, а унылый дух сушит кости.
23 Нечестивый берет подарок из пазухи, чтобы извратить пути правосудия.
24 Мудрость - пред лицем у разумного, а глаза глупца - на конце земли.
25 Глупый сын - досада отцу своему и огорчение для матери своей.
26 Нехорошо и обвинять правого, [и] бить вельмож за правду.
27 Разумный воздержан в словах своих, и благоразумный хладнокровен.
28 И глупец, когда молчит, может показаться мудрым, и затворяющий уста свои - благоразумным. 1 Better is a piece of dry bread, and with it peace than a house full of slaughtered cattle, with strife.
2 A rational slave rules over a dissolute son and divide the inheritance between brothers.
3 The smelter is for silver, and the crucible is for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.
4 The wicked hearkeneth to the mouth of the wicked; the liar heareth the tongue of the evil.
5 He that curseth over the poor, blasphemes his Maker; He who rejoices in misfortune will not remain unpunished.
6 The old man's crown is the sons of sons, and the glory of the children is their parents.
7 It is not appropriate for a fool to make an important speech, especially to a noble one - lips lying.
8 A gift is a precious stone in the eyes of the one who owns it: wherever he turns, will have time.
9 He that covereth the transgression seeketh love; but who again reminds him, he removes a friend.
10 A wise man acts more strongly on a reasonable man than a foolish hundred blows.
11 The outlaw seeks only evil; therefore a cruel angel will be sent against him.
12 It is better to meet a man with a bear, deprived of children, rather than a fool with his stupidity.
13 He who does good for good repents evil from the house.
14 The beginning of a quarrel is like breaking a water; Leave a quarrel before it flared up.
15 He that justifies the wicked and accuses the righteous is both an abomination to the Lord.
16 Why is the treasure in the hands of a fool? For the acquisition of wisdom, [y] [him] there is no reason.
17 A friend loves at all times, and, like a brother, appears in times of adversity.
18 A man of low mind gives his hand, and guarantees for his neighbor.
19 He who loves quarrels, loves sin, and whoever raises his gates high, he seeks a fall.
20 A deceitful heart will not find good, and a wicked tongue will get into trouble.
21 And a foolish man gave birth to himself on the mountain, and the father of the foolish will not rejoice.
22 A merry heart is as good as a medicine, and a dull spirit dries bones.
23 The wicked takes a gift from the bosom to pervert the ways of justice.
24 Wisdom is before an intelligent man, and the eyes of a fool are at the end of the earth.
25 A foolish son is an annoyance to his father, and grief for his mother.
26 It is not good to blame the righteous, [and] to beat the nobles for the truth.
The Reasonable is temperate in his words, and the prudent is cold-blooded.
28 And a fool, when he is silent, may seem wise, and he that shutteth his mouth is wise.
