встань, пойди в Месопотамию, в дом Вафуила, отца матери твоей, и возьми себе жену оттуда, из дочерей Лавана, брата матери твоей;
Бог же Всемогущий да благословит тебя, да расплодит тебя и да размножит тебя, и да будет от тебя множество народов,
и да даст тебе благословение Авраама, тебе и потомству твоему с тобою, чтобы тебе наследовать землю странствования твоего, которую Бог дал Аврааму!
И отпустил Исаак Иакова, и он пошел в Месопотамию к Лавану, сыну Вафуила Арамеянина, к брату Ревекки, матери Иакова и Исава.
Исав увидел, что Исаак благословил Иакова и благословляя послал его в Месопотамию, взять себе жену оттуда, и заповедал ему, сказав: не бери жены из дочерей Ханаанских;
и что Иаков послушался отца своего и матери своей и пошел в Месопотамию.
И увидел Исав, что дочери Ханаанские не угодны Исааку, отцу его;
и пошел Исав к Измаилу и взял себе жену Махалафу, дочь Измаила, сына Авраамова, сестру Наваиофову, сверх других жен своих.
Иаков же вышел из Вирсавии и пошел в Харран,
и пришел на одно место, и остался там ночевать, потому что зашло солнце. И взял один из камней того места, и положил себе изголовьем, и лег на том месте.
И увидел во сне: вот, лестница стоит на земле, а верх ее касается неба; и вот, Ангелы Божии восходят и нисходят по ней.
И вот, Господь стоит на ней и говорит: Я Господь, Бог Авраама, отца твоего, и Бог Исаака. Землю, на которой ты лежишь, Я дам тебе и потомству твоему;
и будет потомство твое, как песок земной; и распространишься к морю и к востоку, и к северу и к полудню; и благословятся в тебе и в семени твоем все племена земные;
и вот Я с тобою, и сохраню тебя везде, куда ты ни пойдешь; и возвращу тебя в сию землю, ибо Я не оставлю тебя, доколе не исполню того, что Я сказал тебе.
Иаков пробудился от сна своего и сказал: истинно Господь присутствует на месте сем; а я не знал!
И убоялся и сказал: как страшно сие место! это не иное что, как дом Божий, это врата небесные.
И встал Иаков рано утром, и взял камень, который он положил себе изголовьем, и поставил его памятником, и возлил елей на верх его.
И нарек имя месту тому: Вефиль, а прежнее имя того города было: Луз.
И положил Иаков обет, сказав: если Бог будет со мною и сохранит меня в пути сем, в который я иду, и даст мне хлеб есть и одежду одеться,
и я в мире возвращусь в дом отца моего, и будет Господь моим Богом, —
то этот камень, который я поставил памятником, будет домом Божиим; и из всего, что Ты, Боже, даруешь мне, я дам Тебе десятую часть. And Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and commanded him, and said: "Take not a wife from the daughters of Canaan;
Arise, go to Mesopotamia, to the house of Bethuel, the father of your mother, and take a wife from there, from the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother;
And God Almighty bless you, that he may multiply you and multiply you, and that there shall be a multitude of nations from you,
And may he give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your descendants with you, so that you may inherit the land of your pilgrimage, which God gave to Abraham!
And Isaac sent Jacob, and he went to Mesopotamia to Laban, the son of Bethuel the Aramean, to the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
Esau saw that Isaac blessed Jacob and blessing sent him to Mesopotamia, to take his wife from there, and commanded him, saying: do not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan;
And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and went to Mesopotamia.
And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;
And Esau went to Ishmael, and took unto himself Mahalath his daughter, the daughter of Ishmael the son of Abraham, the sister of Nebaioth, over and above his other wives.
And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went to Haran,
And came to one place, and stayed there to spend the night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place, and put it in his head, and lay down in that place.
And I saw in a dream: Behold, the ladder is on the earth, and the top thereof is about the sky; And, behold, the angels of God are ascending and descending upon it.
And, behold, the Lord stood upon it, and said, I am the LORD, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie, I will give you and your offspring;
And your seed shall be as the sand of the earth; And spread to the sea and to the east, and to the north and to the noon; And in you and in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed;
And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee wherever thou goest; And I will bring you back into this land, for I will not leave you, until I fulfill what I have told you.
And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and said, Verily the Lord is present in this place; But I did not know!
And he was afraid and said: how terrible this place is! It is nothing but that as the house of God, it is the gate of heaven.
And Jacob arose early in the morning, and took up the stone which he had put to himself with the headboard, and set it up as a monument, and poured oil on his top.
And he called the name of the place: Bethel, and the former name of that city was: Luz.
And Jacob made a vow, saying, If God be with me, and keep me in this way, to which I am going, and he will give me bread to eat and clothes to put on,
And I in the world will return to my father's house, and the Lord will be my God,
Then this stone, which I set up as a monument, will be the house of God; And from all that you, God, grant me, I will give you a tenth.
