Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh,
Over the fields we go,
Laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring,
Making spirits bright,
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight, O

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,
I thought I'd take a ride,
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank;
Mis fortune seemed his lot;
He got into a drifted bank,
And we, we got upset. O

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh,
He laughed as there
I sprawling lie,
But quickly drove away, O

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay
Two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you'll take the lead, O

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

In the original song had a different melody. It was first published in 1857 by the American composer James Lord Pierpont . It was called "One Horse Open Sleigh" ( the last line of the verse about sled drawn by a horse in that ) and it was difficult to tune , more reminiscent of classical pieces by Mozart. Who rewrote the text and melody to the version that we all know , to this day unknown. But it is known as the original sounded .
The song is now inextricably associated with Christmas , although in itself is no mention of the holiday does not include Christmas and how the author did not think : it's just a fun winter song .
Now it is assumed that jingle bell in the lyrics - is the name of the variety of bells, and such really is: it's the balls of sheet metal , which is placed inside the pellet . These are often used and are used for decoration including sleigh on Christmas as a cheaper alternative to the usual bells .
But historian James Fuld argues that the word jingle in this context it is imperative verb . That is actually a song called " Jingle , Bells ."
Song often performed only with the first verse in which there is nothing concrete , except for the story of how great ride a sleigh in winter . In the original , however, there are still three verses : the second question about how the narrator takes a ride with a girl, but turns on the sled . In the third , he goes for a walk in the snow , falling on his back, and mocked the other gentleman. In the third all again happily ride on a sled at a high speed .
Glenn Miller recorded the song with his orchestra (1941), Frank Sinatra sang it , Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole , Ella Fitzgerald and Boney M.
