(August 1653 - March 3, 1706) - the famous German composer and organist of the Baroque era, whose work is one of the peaks of South German organ music. He composed a great number of secular and church works, and his contribution to the development of the forms of the fugue and choral prelude makes him one of the greatest composers of the Middle Baroque era.
Today, the Pachelbel is known to the general public primarily because of Canon in D major; it was the only canon he wrote, and for this work alone it is difficult to imagine his style. In addition to the mentioned canon, Chacon is well known in F minor, Chaconne in D minor and Toccata in C minor for organ, as well as the cycle of keyboard variations “Hexachordum Apollinis”.
