В 1989 году немецкий лейбл звукозаписи ZYX Records купил права на весь каталог Memory Records, включая права на музыку «Koto» и название. [1] Также они обратились с просьбой (известно от проекта Laserdance) к Михелю ван дер Каю (англ. Michiel van der Kuy), чтобы он повторно сделал запись и смикшировал некоторые из старых треков Koto. Koto was the first Italian synth band founded by Anfrando Maiola and Stefano Cundari and recorded at the Memory Records studio in Italy. Together they released several tracks such as Visitors, Japanese War Game, Dragon's Legend, Chinese Revenge and Jabdah.
In 1989, the German record label ZYX Records bought the rights to the entire Memory Records catalog, including the rights to the music of "Koto" and the title. [1] They also asked (known from the Laserdance project) to Michael Michiel van der Kuy to re-record and mix some of the old Koto tracks. The result of this process was Masterpieces album, which contained re-mixed versions of Maiola's tracks along with three new songs, completely composed by Michel van der Kay. In 1990, Anfrando Maiola returned with the song Champion's Cue, but the single was not very popular. Mikhel van der Kai later recorded four albums of Koto. All of them have become for today a classic, known to every fan of SpaceSynth-music.
As mentioned above, the legal rights to the name Koto were acquired by ZYX Records, which was not interested in another group album in the old SpaceSynth-style [1]. Recently, Anfrando Maiola returned the rights to the name Koto, but the music he writes now is far from the SpaceSynth genre, but rather is between the styles Dance and Techno. Of the recent works of Maiola, it should be noted tracks Koto Is Still Alive (2001) and Blow The Whistle (2003).
