Омара Сантану по праву можно считать новатором стиля «Hardhop». Вдохновившись творчеством DJ Jellybean Benitez, еще в начале 80-х годов он тоже решает стать на путь диджея. И с того времени парень с Куинс (Нью Йорк) становится частью музыкального мира, сначала в роли диджея в группе «Dynamic Rockers Crew», а потом уже сам по себе работает вместе с подобными ему артистами, такими как Arthur Baker, Tommy Boy. В середине 80-х делает несколько ремиксов для реп-исполнителей (UTFO, The Boogie Boys, Stetsasonic и Mantronix.) Имея большой талант и хорошее умение делать качественные ремиксы, он делает еще ряд ремиксов для самых разнообразных сполнителей. Public Enemy, Janet Jackson, Simply Red, Quincy Jones, The Rolling Stones, New Order, The Shamen и MC Ren of NWA все они, рано или поздно обращаются к таланту Омара. Недовольный положением дел в мире музыки он основывает свой звукозаписывающий лейбл «Tricked Out Recordings», и позже хардкор-лейбл «H2OH Recordings».
