Поднимались башни замка,
Окруженного рекою,
Как причудливою рамкой.
Жили в нем согласной парой
Принц, на днях еще из детской,
С ним всезнающий и старый
И напыщенный дворецкий.
В зале Гордых Восклицаний
Много копий и арканов,
Чтоб охотиться на ланей
И рыкающих кабанов.
Вид принявши молодецкий,
Принц несется на охоту,
Но за ним бежит дворецкий
И кричит, прогнав дремоту:
«За пределами Веледа
Есть заклятые дороги,
Там я видел людоеда
На огромном носороге.
Кровожадный, ликом темный,
Он бросает злые взоры,
Носорог его огромный
Потрясает ревом горы».
Принц не слушает и мчится,
Белый панцирь так и блещет,
Сокол, царственная птица,
На руке его трепещет.
Вдруг... жилище людоеда —
Скал угрюмые уступы
И, трофей его победы,
Полусъеденные трупы.
И, как сны необычайны,
Пестрокожие удавы...
Но дворецкий знает тайны,
Жжет магические травы.
Не успел алтарь остынуть,
Людоед уже встревожен,
Не пытается он вынуть
Меч испытанный из ножен.
На душе тяжелый ужас,
Непонятная тревога,
И трубит он в рог, натужась,
Вызывает носорога.
Но он скоро рог оставит:
Друг его в лесистом мраке,
Где его упорно травят
Быстроногие собаки.
Юный принц вошел нечаян
В этот дом глухих рыданий,
И испуганный хозяин
Очутился на аркане.
Людоеда посадили
Одного с его тоскою
В башню мрака, башню пыли,
За высокою стеною.
Говорят, он стал добрее,
Проходящим строит глазки
И о том, как пляшут феи,
Сочиняет детям сказки. Over a high mountain
The castle towers were rising
Surrounded by the river
Like a fancy frame.
Lived in it as a consonant pair
Prince, the other day from the nursery,
With him the all-knowing and old
And the pompous butler.
In the hall of proud exclamations
Many spears and arcana
To hunt fallow deer
And roaring boars.
Having taken a good look,
The prince is on the hunt
But the butler runs after him
And screams, driving away the slumber:
“Outside Weleda
There are sworn roads
There I saw a cannibal
On a huge rhino.
Bloodthirsty, with a dark face,
He casts evil eyes
His huge rhino
Shakes the mountains with a roar. "
The prince does not listen and rushes
The white carapace shines
Falcon, a regal bird
His hand flutters.
Suddenly ... the cannibal's dwelling -
Rocks gloomy ledges
And, the trophy of his victory,
Half-eaten corpses.
And, as dreams are extraordinary,
Motley boas ...
But the butler knows the secrets
Burns magical herbs.
The altar did not have time to cool down,
The cannibal is already alarmed
He does not try to take out
The tested sword from the scabbard.
There is a heavy horror in my soul
Incomprehensible anxiety
And he blows the horn, straining,
Summons a rhino.
But he will soon leave the horn:
His friend in the wooded darkness,
Where he is persistently hounded
Fast dogs.
The young prince entered by accident
To this house of dull sobs
And the frightened master
I found myself on the lasso.
The cannibal was planted
Alone with his longing
To the tower of darkness, tower of dust,
Behind a high wall.
They say he became kinder
Making eyes to passers-by
And how fairies dance
Composes fairy tales for children.
